Preserve, repair, sometimes reissue: we extend the life of artworks while respecting their material, history and the intention of their authors — particularly in public art and contemporary heritage.
We intervene on existing works — sculptures, moulded objects, murals, ceramics, artistic or architectural installations, public artworks — when time, usage or environment have altered them (wear, corrosion, impacts, vandalism, safety).
Each mission begins with a condition report and a diagnosis, allowing us to define an intervention protocol suited to the work, the site and the expectations of the project owner. We also take a proactive stance: alternative modes of display, necessary adjustments and dialogue with the artist or estate.
Depending on the situation, we intervene directly on site (cleaning, touch-ups, refinishing) or organise removal, packing, transport and return to the workshop. Thanks to the diversity of our skills — metal, wood, composites, moulding, finishes, assemblies — we work on artworks in a wide range of materials, guaranteeing controlled interventions that respect their integrity.

When the artwork or its context require it, we can go as far as reissuing the piece, identically or in an adapted form (more durable materials, reinforced supports), in dialogue with the artist, the estate and the institution.

We ensure safe, documented and context-sensitive interventions — on site and in the workshop.
Our workshop in Montpellier offers a secure environment to work, temporarily store pieces, test materials and colours, and prepare a reliable and careful reinstallation.
Rooted in the Occitanie region, CHD ART MAKER supports local authorities, schools, universities, cultural institutions and private collectors in their role as guardians of contemporary art heritage. Where appropriate, we also incorporate reflection on the artwork’s second life: reuse, recycling, technical upgrades or adaptation (CSR).
